Calendar feeds that put a single all-day event on every day: when the sun rises and sets where you are, how long it stays up, and how much daylight you have gained since the shortest day of the year. Subscribe once and it keeps itself up to date.

What each event shows

One per day

A glance at the title tells you the day

Every day in the feed gets one all-day event. The title carries the numbers so you can read them straight from a month view, and the notes repeat them one per line. Here is today's event for Stoke-on-Trent:

Extra
How much longer today is than the most recent winter solstice at that location. It climbs from zero each December to its peak at the summer solstice, then falls back towards zero as the nights draw in.
BST / GMT
The timezone the times are shown in, so the clock change in spring and autumn is never a surprise.

Subscribable Calendars

The feeds are rebuilt every day and always cover the past week and the year ahead. Subscribe rather than importing the file, so your calendar picks up each rebuild on its own.

Apple Calendar

Press Subscribe on a feed. On a Mac or iPhone it opens Calendar and asks to confirm.

Google Calendar

Copy URL, then in Google Calendar on the web choose Other calendars → + → From URL and paste it.

Outlook

Copy URL, then choose Add calendar → Subscribe from web and paste it.

Each calendar app decides how often it checks for updates. Apple Calendar can be set to refresh daily; Google Calendar checks on its own schedule, which can take a day or so.

The feeds are built by a small PHP script on a daily schedule and served as static files. The source, and the list of locations in config.php, is on GitHub.
